Virginia State Plan for Independent Living by Roberta McEachern
The Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) invites you to attend a public forum hosted by Independence Empowerment Center. It will be held December 7th from 12:30 - 2:30. Light refreshments will be provided.
The purpose of the SILC is to develop and facilitate a three year plan for independent living, facilitate the goals and activities within the plan and to distribute Rehabilitation Act, Title VII, Part B funds allocated by congress. The funds are distributed to Virginia through a Federal Formula Grant.
You are invited to the forum so that your comments can be taken into consideration during the development of the 2007-2010 state plan - otherwise known as the State Plan for Independent Living or SPIL. The SPIL is continually monitored and revised every three years and is due to the federal government on July 1st of the year it is due.
We encourage you to attend this very important meeting. You may look on our website www.ieccil.org for the documents that will be reviewed at the forum, or call us and they will be mailed to you. Coming to the forum will be your opportunity to provide your valuable input. Reserve your space for the meeting and let us know of any accommodation needs, or dietary restrictions by calling Roberta McEachern at 703-257-5400 ext. 116.
