Saying Goodbye by Gretchen Fox
Come the middle of March I will reach my two year mark at Independence Empowerment Center (IEC).
Although I have enjoyed my time at IEC, I will be changing my career to the position I have always desired: to remain at home and raise my children. Soon after leaving IEC, my husband and I will be blessed with the birth of our first child.
My two years at IEC have been a learning experience, an opportunity for growth, and a wonderful time. I began at IEC as the Community Action Specialist then moved to a Service Facilitator where I was able to work for something I believe in: keeping people as independent as possible while living in their own homes. Through that position I had the delight of meeting many community members. While it was my job to meet with our consumers and their families, it was my pleasure to assist and learn about their family and lives. Thank you for making my job enjoyable.
Of course with any job comes “office time” as well. The work environment at IEC is one very different than I have ever experienced before. That staff is very dedicated to their jobs and to the communities we serve. And while working hard they still find humor in stressful times. I was able to learn from them, grow with them, and have many good times! It has been my pleasure to work with and personally know each of them.
For those consumers and agency members I have been working with, do not fret, a trustworthy IEC staff member will be quick to take my place and keep the ball rolling. I will miss everyone I have met over the last two years and I wish you all the best of luck in the future!!!
