The General Assembly increased the personal maintenance allowance from 100% of SSI to 165% of SSI. That is an increase from $603 to $995 per month effective September 1st 2006. The Personal Maintenance Allowance (PMA) is the amount of unearned income that people who receive Virginia Medicaid home and community based waivers can keep each month for living expenses. The local Department of Social Services was advised of the increase and will be making all adjustments.
