Legislative Advocacy Training by Roberta McEachern

IEC will be hosting a Legislative Advocacy Training Workshop. This will be a five-week series to teach, or review with you how to use your voice in the legislative process. We will be covering topics such as: what is advocacy and how it works; how a bill becomes a law; ways to communicate with your legislators; and many more. This training is very popular throughout the country at centers for independent living. It prepares people with disabilities to have a stronger voice through grassroots efforts. If you would like to learn more about your rights, become an advocate for people with disabilities and/or change or support existing laws, please contact me via email at rmceachern@ieccil.org or by phone at 703-257-5400 ext 116, by September 15th to reserve your space. Let us know if you need accommodations to attend. Classes start Wednesday, September 20th from 1-4 and will continue every Wednesday for the next four weeks. The workshops are free.
